What to Expect:

Adaptive Functional Myofascial Structural Integration

  • 1 – 3: The Superficial Sessions

  • 4 – 7: The Core Sessions

  • 8-10: The Integrating Sessions that work towards relating the previous myofascial continuities to each other with a more movement based application.

Unlike traditional massage, this assessment-driven treatment looks beyond the place that hurts. We evaluate how your posture, movement patterns, and weight distribution may be contributing to pain or discomfort, which we see as symptoms or indicators of restrictions, adaptations or compensation patterns that are introduced by movement patterns outside of the functional and supportive plane of motion. that part of the body operates most efficiently that contributes to the structural presentation or posture over our lifetime.

The 10-Series Flow

The 10-session arc is split into three main structural themes: Superficial, core, and Integration.

Phase 1: Superficial Sessions (Sessions 1–3) These are not set in stone and are adaptable to the individual. Depending upon the time length scheduled more than one session may be completed.

Sessions are about 60-75 minutes each. Your nervous system dictates the pace.

  • Goal: Loosen and balance the superficial (outer) layers of fascia.

  • Session 1: Focuses on respiration, freeing the ribcage, chest, and diaphragm to improve breathing capacity.

  • Session 2: Balances the lower legs and feet to create a stable foundation and support the arches.

  • Session 3: Works on the lateral (side) line of the body from the ankles to the shoulders to open side-to-side balance.

Phase 2: Core Sessions (Sessions 4–7)

  • Goal: Access and organize the deep structural tissues between the bottom of the pelvis and the top of the head.

  • Session 4: Explores the inside arch of the foot up to the inside of the knee and thigh.

  • Session 5: Focuses on the deep front line of the torso, including the psoas and hip flexors.

  • Session 6: Addresses the deep back line, focusing on the spine, pelvis, and hamstrings for posterior support.

  • Session 7: Focuses closely on the neck, head, and cranial structures to balance the head atop the spine.

Phase 3: Integration Sessions (Sessions 8–10)

  • Goal: Blend all previous advancements together to encourage fluid, coordinated, and natural movement.

  • Session 8 & 9: Flexible sessions where the therapist customizes the work based on your unique patterns and needs to tie the upper and lower halves together.

  • Session 10: The final sealing session that establishes core-to-surface integration, leaving the body with a lasting sense of balanced support in gravity.

That's the plan, but it's not a one size fits all approach, we may have to switch up the order as it may require.

How Biomechanics, Gravity, and Fascia Shape Our Structure

Human movement is described through three primary cardinal planes, along with oblique or multiplanar movement:

Sagittal: Forward-and-back movement, such as running, bending, a biceps curl, or a forward lunge

Frontal or coronal: Side-to-side movement, such as a lateral raise or side lunge.

Transverse: Rotational movement, such as a horizontal wood chop.

Oblique or multiplanar: Diagonal movement combining several planes, as occurs during Frisbee, tennis, soccer, cutting, pivoting, reaching, and throwing.

Balanced Structure: Ideally, we are kinetically balanced:  the head is centered over the shoulders, the shoulders over the hips, and the hips over the knees and ankles, with the feet supported by a balanced three-point arch system. This organization gives us our greatest potential to move from point A to point B with balance, ease, and less unnecessary strain.

Movement: The Impact of mechanotransduction

Movement occurs around an axis perpendicular to each plane. When one joint or region cannot move efficiently within its intended plane, the body redirects that movement elsewhere. Muscles designed to be prime movers may become stabilizers, while stabilizers may be recruited to produce movement.

When this becomes habitual, it can contribute to inefficient movement, restriction, pain, and whole-body compensation.

Via the process of mechanotransduction which is simply the process by which a physical force gets converted into a chemical signal inside a cell fibroblasts the cells responsible for producing and remodeling collagen.

We use this process to our advantage functional movement within the assigned motion plane

that expedites the positive change at the cellular level reshaping your structure and improved movement. This prompts a cascade inside the cell, which switches on genes related to tissue remodeling your cell. Your cells and tissues are held together through a continuous balance of tension and compression so that a force supplied at one point in the structure is transmitted and felt throughout the whole system. Not just locally. Posturing or moving out of our center of gravity creates an uneven pull on the body and when that becomes chronic or habitual  then is more concentrated on that off centered part.


For example: placing your head over center changes the weight distribution: at a neutral upright position, your head weighs about 10–12 pounds. Because gravity pulls straight down, bending forward shifts your head's center of mass in front of your spine. This creates a powerful lever arm:

  • 15-degree tilt: The effective weight on your neck increases to about 27 pounds.

  • 30-degree tilt: The effective weight increases to about 40 pounds.

  • 60-degree tilt (looking straight down at a phone): The neck must support up to 60 pounds of pressure...Creating adaptations and compensation patterns leading to restrictions and ultimately pain and discomfort.

Structural Assessment

We begin by observing your posture, joint positioning, movement, and how this force travels through your body and how to address and help correct it.

  • Fascial and muscular restrictions

  • Adaptations and compensation patterns

  • Areas of uneven weight distribution

  • Movement patterns that may be contributing to your symptoms

Your assessment creates a personalized body map that helps determine where, how, and in which direction treatment should be applied to best unwind your restrictions.

Interactive Kinesis Therapy

“Kinesis” means movement. During treatment, you may be guided through gentle limb movements or muscle contractions while your therapist applies targeted pressure.

Combining touch with movement helps free restricted tissue, improve fascial glide, and encourage your body to move within more supportive planes of motion.

Adaptave Integration

Your treatment may incorporate myofascial structural integration, neuromuscular therapy, and functional corrective movement.

Simple movement or strengthening exercises may also be recommended to help reinforce the changes introduced during your session and support more comfortable, efficient movement between visits.

Why Fascia Matters

Muscles do not function independently. They are surrounded and interconnected by layers of fascia—a continuous connective-tissue network that unites muscle groups into coordinated kinetic chains extending from the bottoms of your feet to the top of your head.

Fascia is also richly supplied with sensory nerve endings and pain-sensitive receptors. Some research sources report that fascia may contain up to six times more nerve endings than muscle tissue. This means what feels like muscle pain may sometimes originate within—or be strongly influenced by—the fascia surrounding and connecting those muscles.

Because fascia helps transfer tension and force throughout the body, the place where you feel discomfort may not be the only area contributing to it. That is why we assess and treat the connected structural pattern—not simply the place that hurts.

Functional Kinesis: Movement With Intention

Functional Kinesis is similar in concept to functional strength training. Both emphasize moving with balance, joint support, and control within the body’s natural planes of motion. Identified as sagittal:(Forward-and-back) frontal or coronal (Side-to-side) transverse:(Rotational) oblique or multiplanar: (Diagonal in several planes) Your cells and tissues are held together is through a continuous balance of tension and compression so that a force supplied at one point in the structure is transmitted and felt throughout the whole system.

We look to identify restrictions or compensations that may be affecting your movement, then incorporates carefully directed pressure and guided movement to encourage:

  • More balanced posture and alignment

  • Improved mobility and fascial glide

  • Healthier distribution of weight and force

  • More coordinated, efficient movement

  • Reduced reinforcement of compensation patterns

The goal is not to force your body into a “perfect” position. It is to help your structure become more balanced, adaptable, and using science to our advantage to encourage balanced structure equipped for comfortable more efficient movement.
