Our Standard of Care
What to Expect
To allow time for assessment and maximize your hands-on treatment time, we recommend arriving 10 minutes early for your first visit.
Your session begins with a conversation about your symptoms, goals, health history, injuries, surgeries, and anything else that may be influencing how your body is functioning.
Depending on the therapy selected, your therapist may perform a brief assessment that can include:
• Standing/lying active & passive posture and analysis
• Movement performance and range of motion
• Foot arches and lower-extremity mechanics
• Shoulder, spinal, and pelvic positioning
• Relevant orthopedic testing when appropriate
This assessment helps us understand not only where symptoms are occurring, but how your body may be adapting around them.
At Empirical Knead, treatment is not a fixed routine. Every session is guided by clinical observation and assessment, allowing the work to adapt to your body in real time.
A Cyclical process
Observe → Assess → Treat → Reassess → Observe
Whether your treatment emphasizes neuromuscular therapy, structural integration, manual lymphatic drainage, or restorative care, the standard remains the same.
-Science provides the framework.
-Assessment guides the treatment.
-Your body determines the pace.
-Improved function is the outcome.
What Your Assessment Reveals
Your assessment helps us investigate movement restrictions and compensations you may not yet notice. From head position and spinal movement to ankle mobility, arch stability, and toe function—among many other factors—we consider how your body moves and supports you.
Experience with similar presentations helps us recognize patterns, even when symptoms differ. Your individual findings and response guide the direction, pressure, and movement of treatment—and the functional movements we recommend between visits.
Observe. Assess. Treat. Reassess.
A Team Supported by Experience
When you work with an Empirical Knead therapist, you benefit from the clinical experience shared across our practice. Founder and Clinical Director Dedric Carroll provides ongoing guidance through intake review, case discussion, and direction about findings that warrant closer attention.
Every client deepens our understanding. As we observe your response over time, we refine your care around your individual mobility, stability, sensitivity, and history.
